Bennington "76" Flag size 2'x3' material: Bennington Flag or "Fillmore" flag. "76" and arch of thirteen stars in field. Thirteen stripes alternate white and red. Long thought to be the oldest stars and stripes and used by Stark at the Battle of Bennington. Analysis conducted in 1996 proved flag to be from 1812 period. Franklin Fillmore flew one in a GAR parade in 1887. At this event a souvenir hunter took the top white stripe and one of the stars. Original flag can be seen at the Bennington Museum.
